CHICKEN KONDATTAM
Kerala style Chicken KONDATTAM is a popular dish in the Malabar region. This is a very spicy dish where boneless chicken pieces are marinated with spices, fried and then sautéed in masala.
Chicken Kondattam is a quick and easy dish that is ready in minimal time. Enjoyed with roti, chapati and even rice
Ingredients for marination:
500 gms chicken, washed and cut
½ tbsp Lemon juice or vinegar
Salt to taste
½ tbsp Shilpa’s Masala Mill Kashmiri chilli powder
¼ tsp turmeric powder
½ tsp pepper powder
½ tbsp ginger garlic paste
½ tsp dark soya sauce
½ tsp soya sauce
1tbsp Rice flour
INGREDIENTS FOR MASALA
5-6 dry red chilies
10 shallots , sliced
2-3 green chillies
½ tsp ginger garlic paste
Curry leaves
1-2 tbsp tomato ketchup
½ tsp Garam masala
½ tsp Crushed red chilli flakes
½ tsp Crushed Black pepper
1-2 tsp Red chilli paste ( or red chilli powder )
1tbsp Coriander powder
Oil
INSTRUCTIONS:
Marinate the chicken with all the ingredients mentioned in the marinade.
Keep for atleast an hour ( overnight is best)
Heat oil in pan and fry the marinated chicken pieces
Drain and keep aside
In same pan fry some dried red chillies and curry leaves. Drain and keep aside
In the same pan, add shallots, green chillies and fry for few mins
Add ginger-garlic paste and fry for 1-2 mins
Add coriander powder, red chilli paste, garam masala, chilli flakes and sauté for 1-2 mins
Add ketchup
Add little water if needed
Add the fried chicken and sauté for 2-3 mins
Add fried red chillies and curry leaves
And that it, your easy and delicious Spicy Chicken Kondattam is ready
Serve hot with rice, chapatti
